Study on the Test for Occult Blood in Gastric Disease

Abstract
|
|
|
In this report, tests for occult blood were performed on 210 cases of peptic ulcer, 143 cases of chronic gastritis and 177 cases of gastric cancer.
Tests for occult blood were positive in 49. 7 per cent of cases of chronic gastritis, in 66.2 per cent of cases of peptic ulcer and in 94.7 per cents of cases of gastric cancer. Cases of atrophic gastritis in the chronic gastritis were more frequently positive. There were no differences between gastric and duodenal ulcer in their incidence. And there did not appear to Borrmann´s classification in gastric cancer. The degree of occult blood was severest in gastric cancer.
